Ingredients
-
1 cup whole milk
-
1/2 cup heavy cream (optional, for extra richness)
-
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
-
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
-
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
Pinch of salt
-
2 shots of espresso (or Tonomi dark roast coffee)
-
Marshmallows and chocolate shavings, for garnish (optional)
Directions
In a saucepan, whisk together milk, heavy cream (if using), cocoa powder, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Heat over medium heat, whisking constantly, until mixture is steaming and cocoa powder dissolves. Don't let it boil!
- Once warm, remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips. Let them melt, stirring occasionally, until you have a smooth, decadent chocolate heaven.
- Pour in your espresso (or Tonomi dark roast coffee) and gently stir to combine. The aroma that hits you will be pure bliss.
- Divide the hot chocolate between two mugs and top with marshmallows and a sprinkle of chocolate shavings, if your inner chocoholic desires.
Recipe Note
Tips:
Want it extra dark? Use dark chocolate chips or add a tablespoon of dark cocoa powder.
Feeling fancy? Infuse your milk with cinnamon sticks or orange peel for a touch of warm spice.
No espresso machine? Strong-brewed coffee works too! Just adjust the amount to your taste.
Vegan? Use plant-based milk and chocolate chips for a dairy-free delight.
